PhotoVAS is currently available for macOS. A Windows version is planned and in active development. The app is built with Tauri 2, which allows native performance on both platforms.
No. PhotoVAS is 100% local-first. All your data — files, client info, financial records, AI processing — stays on your machine. The AI assistant (Henri) runs locally using open-source models. No data is ever sent to external servers unless you explicitly configure cloud AI providers.
Henri runs on a local language model embedded in the app. It processes your queries entirely on your machine, with access to your full database. This means it works offline, responds faster than cloud AI, and your data never leaves your computer.
It depends on drive size. A typical 4TB photography drive takes about 15–30 minutes for metadata and preview extraction. After the initial scan, everything is indexed and searchable instantly — even when the drive is disconnected.
PhotoVAS is currently in free Beta. Pricing for the final release has not been announced yet. Join the beta to help shape the product and lock in early access.
PhotoVAS reads your files directly from disk — it doesn't require importing from other applications. If your photos are on a drive, PhotoVAS can catalog them. It reads all standard metadata (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) that other tools have written.
